Dr. Louise Hayes

Clinical Psychologist

Louise is a clinical psychologist who works with adult and adolescents using acceptance and mindfulness based behaviour therapy. Louise is a world leader in youth mental health, an international trainer, author, speaker and philanthropist. Please refer to Louise’s website for more details

Appropriate referrals include: adults or adolescents with anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, trauma, parents and families.

Dr. Laura Younis

Health Psychologist

Laura is a health psychologist who uses evidence based therapies to support adults and older adults. She has several years experience in private practice, and prior to this worked in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.


Appropriate referrals include:

  • adjustment to illness and disability,

  • rehabilitation and pain management,

  • grief and loss, depression, anxiety.

Laura also has an interest in supporting women and families experiencing difficulties during the antenatal and postnatal period.

Melissa Van Styn


Melissa is a psychologist with many years of experience working in the mental health sector with people of all ages. Melissa utilises evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support children, adolescents, families and adults. 


Appropriate referrals include: 

-       trauma or difficulty adjusting to life stress

-       relationship issues

-       depression, anxiety, grief, and loss 

-       school or peer-related difficulties for children & adolescents

-       parenting support for families

What is is the procedure for referral?

If you would like to see a psychologist under the Medicare rebate system, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan from your general practitioner. The Mental Health Care Plan allows you up to 10 sessions in a calendar year (6 on the initial referral).  You must bring your referral from your GP and Mental Health Plan to your first session.

If you would prefer to use your private health cover, simply contact your provider to ensure you are covered and then call or email us for an appointment. 

How do I pay?

We provide on the spot electronic rebates.

On the day of your appointment we will ask you to pay full fee, then providing you have an EFTPOS card you will receive an immediate rebate. Your gap fee will differ depending on your referral needs. We will explain this to you when you make an appointment.  

Dr. Veronica Johnston

Veronica is a psychologist who brings empathy, practicality, and light-heartedness to all that she does. Veronica has sixteen years of experience working with children, adolescents and families, and holds a Bachelor of Education and a Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical).

Veronica has worked as a pastoral care and curriculum leader in the education sector with experience from Preparatory level to Year 12, and has more recently held tertiary education teaching positions at Deakin University. In the mental health sector she has worked in not-for-profit organisations, hospitals, schools, private practices, and government child protection organisations. She has also published academic research in the areas of child interviewing and child temperament.

Veronica has a particular passion for early intervention and the construction of solid support networks around children and adolescents. As a passionate advocate for mental health and well-being as well as nurturing strong therapeutic connections, Veronica cultivates open communication, shared understanding, and common goals. She also believes it is important to help her clients develop self-belief, compassion, and independence. Evidence-based assessment tools inform targeted and meaningful psychological intervention with a focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients become capable of understanding and managing challenging emotions, acknowledging and reframing unhelpful thinking patterns, and altering unhelpful behaviours.

Daciane D’Abaco

Clinical Psychologist


Daciane is a clinical psychologist who has several years’ experience working within the public and private mental health sectors. She provides evidence-based interventions to support adults of all ages who are experiencing mental health concerns. In addition to Bacchus Marsh Psychology Clinic, Daciane also works in public health providing consultation-liaison services in acute medical settings.


Appropriate referrals include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Adjustment difficulties

  • Grief and loss

  • Stress management

  • Difficulties managing emotions and/or tolerating distress

  • Low prevalence conditions (e.g., bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia)

Stephanie Lau

Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Stephanie provides best-practice assessment and therapy, supporting children, adolescents and their families. 

Stephanie conducts cognitive and academic assessments, to assist with the diagnosis of Learning Difficulties, in addition to neurodevelopmental assessments inlcuding Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Appropriate referrals include:

- Learning Difficulties - Educational Assessments (Cognitive and Achievement assessments)
- Assessment of Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD
- Therapy and intervention for children with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ASD, ADHD and parent support for families

Stephanie is an approved Department of Social Services (DSS; formerly FaHCSIA) provider of services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
